Role Description
We are building the next generation of humanoid robots that will work alongside humans in real-world environments. As a SLAM & Navigation Engineer at VinDynamics, you will design, implement, and deploy state-of-the-art localization, mapping, and navigation systems that enable our humanoids to move intelligently, safely, and efficiently in complex, dynamic indoor and outdoor environments.
We are hiring across all experience levels (Junior, Mid-Level, Senior). The seniority will be determined based on your depth of experience and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain real-time multi-sensor SLAM (LiDAR, cameras, IMU, encoders).
Develop 2D/3D mapping pipelines that support both navigation and manipulation.
Develop scalable optimization back-ends for maximum accuracy and robustness.
Design safe, smooth global/local path planning and navigation in dynamic real-world environments.
Solve real-world challenges including sensor noise, lighting variations, and dynamic obstacles.
Optimize the full stack for low latency and low power on embedded hardware.
Integrate SLAM tightly with perception, locomotion, and motion planning.
Perform sensor calibration, fusion, real-robot testing, and rapid iteration.
(Mid/Senior) Mentor juniors and lead technical decisions; (Senior) shape the long-term roadmap.
Qualifications (scaled by level)
BSc/MSc/PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
Strong modern C++ & Python (real-time, multi-threaded).
Proven hands-on SLAM experience on real robots (Junior: strong projects; Mid: 2+ years; Senior: 5+ years & shipped products).
Solid understanding of sensor modelling, calibration, and multi-sensor fusion.
Proficiency with optimization libraries (Ceres, g2o, GTSAM) and graph-based SLAM.
Expert with ROS2; comfortable writing custom nodes, lifecycle management.
Solid understanding of 2D/3D path planning and motion planning algorithms (hybrid A*, RRT*, PRM).
Experience with Linux, Git, Docker, CI/CD.
Nice-to-have: GPU acceleration, legged/humanoid experience, open-source contributions.
PS: Even if you don’t tick every single box but you’re passionate about making humanoids navigate the real world reliably, we’d love to hear from you. We are growing fast and always looking for great engineers at every level.
