Software Development Engineers In Test (SDETs) - Trainee

We are building a new generation of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) at MoMo. An SDET is not a traditional QC role with a different title. It is an engineering role that combines software engineering, automation, system thinking, and AI to make Quality scalable, measurable, and deeply integrated into how software is built.

Why SDET at MoMo?

MoMo serves tens of millions of users and supports hundreds of services across multiple business domains, including payments, money transfer, financial services, lending, insurance, investment, commerce, loyalty, and large-scale campaigns.

That scale creates a very different kind of Quality Engineering challenge. Problems are rarely limited to checking whether one screen works correctly; an SDET may need to understand APIs, databases, service integrations, data flows, runtime behavior, automation, and failure signals across complex systems. For someone at the beginning of a technology career, this means exposure to engineering problems that are difficult to experience in smaller or less complex environments. About the SDET Trainee ProgramThe SDET Trainee Program is a selective 6-month development journey designed for high-potential candidates at the beginning of their technology careers.

The program has two main stages:1 month of intensive foundation training in Software Engineering and Quality Engineering;5 months of hands-on experience working directly with real MoMo Cell teams, real systems, and real engineering problems. The goal is not simply to teach testing tools or automation frameworks. We want participants to develop the technical foundation, engineering mindset, and judgment required to solve Quality problems independently.

We are intentionally looking for people at the very beginning of their careers:Recent graduates from Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related technical disciplines;Students who have completed all academic requirements and are only waiting for formal graduation;Early-career technology professionals;Candidates who can fully commit to the program without ongoing academic obligations;Previous QA/QC experience is not required. A basic foundation in programming, software development, APIs, databases, and debugging is important, but mindset matters just as much. We are especially interested in people who:Are curious about how systems actually work;Challenge unclear assumptions;Enjoy investigating difficult problems;Prefer building scalable solutions over repeating manual work;Learn quickly when facing unfamiliar technology;Actively seek and apply feedback;Take ownership beyond assigned tasks;Are comfortable working in an environment with high expectations. You do not need to know every testing framework, and you do not need a testing certificate. Tools can be learned, frameworks will change, and AI will change even faster.
