JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be assigned a defined technical project spanning from data acquisition, model development, and deployment to the robotic platform. The intern will work alongside research engineers, hardware engineers, and will contribute codes to the department's production manipulation stack.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop object-centric and hand-centric perception for humanoid manipulation, including grasping, pick-and-place, insertion, and tool use.
Build and maintain perception pipelines processing RGB-D, stereo, and point cloud data.
Implement 6D object pose estimation, segmentation, and tracking that remains robust under clutter, partial and complete occlusion, motion blur, reflective and transparent surfaces, and variable illumination.
Participate in demonstration data collection, and contribute to the design of collection protocols, task variations, and randomization strategies.
Clean, annotate, curate, and develop tooling to identify defective episodes, mis-labelled frames, sensor dropouts, and coverage gaps prior to training.
Build, fine-tune, and deploy vision-language-action models (VLAs), world-action models (WAMs), and reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms for manipulation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current enrolment in, or recent completion of, a degree program in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline.
Proficiency in Python and C++.
A working understanding of linear algebra and three-dimensional geometry, including coordinate transformations and camera models.
Practical experience with PyTorch or an equivalent deep learning framework, acquired through coursework, thesis work, or personal projects.
Availability to work on-site with physical robotic hardware for the duration of the internship.
