Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Tech Product Owner - Credit Card to own the end-to-end product lifecycle of our credit card portfolio. This is a hands-on technical product role where you will work embedded with engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum environment. You will drive product strategy, write detailed technical requirements, and collaborate daily with developers, QA, and DevOps to ship high-quality card products.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Product Ownership
- Act as Product Owner in Scrum teams, owning and prioritizing the product backlog
- Run sprint planning and backlog grooming meetings with engineering teams
- Write clear user stories with acceptance criteria in INVEST format
- Make prioritization decisions and unblock the team
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and own the credit card product roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Conduct market analysis, competitive research, and customer insights to identify opportunities
- Prioritize features based on customer value, business impact, and technical feasibility
- Break down epics into deliverable vertical slices for iterative releases
Technical Product Development
- Lead end-to-end product development: ideation, requirements, UAT, launch, and iteration
- Write detailed PRDs with technical context (API specs, data flows, system dependencies)
- Work closely with backend, frontend, mobile engineers and QA on technical feasibility and trade-offs
- Participate in API contract reviews and integration planning
Card Network & Compliance
- Work directly with Visa on certification, compliance, and new feature adoption
- Ensure products meet card network rules, PCI-DSS, and local regulatory requirements (SBV)
- Manage card scheme fee negotiations and optimization
Feature Ownership
- Issuance Digital card issuance, instant card provisioning, virtual cards
- 3D Secure 3DS 2.0 implementation, authentication flows, fraud reduction
- Installment Transaction installment, amount installment, cash installment
- Tokenization Apple Pay, Google Pay integration
- Rewards & Loyalty Cashback programs, EMOB program
- Credit Lifecycle Credit limit management, collections, delinquency prevention
Platform Responsibility
- Cake App (End-user): Own card features on mobile app - card management, transaction history, installment requests, card controls, push notifications
- Cake Portal (Bank Staff): Own internal tools for operations - card issuance approval, limit adjustment, dispute handling, customer support workflows
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Operations, Customer Service, and Business Development teams
- Present product updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Manage vendor relationships (card processors, BIN sponsors, embossing vendors)
Analytics & Optimization
- Define KPIs: activation rate, first spending rate, utilization, delinquency, NPS
- Analyze product performance and drive data-driven improvements
Requirements
Mandatory
- 3+ years of Product Management experience in Credit Card domain at a bank or fintech
- Deep understanding of card network operations (Visa, Mastercard)
- Hands-on experience with Credit Card product: issuance, 3DS, installment, tokenization, card management
- Knowledge of card scheme rules, interchange fees, and compliance requirements
- Experience with card processing systems (issuer processor, authorization, clearing/settlement)
Agile & Technical Skills
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum teams as Product Owner or Tech PM
- Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and agile tools for backlog management
- Strong understanding of APIs, REST, system integrations, and technical architecture
- Ability to read and review API documentation, sequence diagrams, and technical specs
- Familiarity with PCI-DSS compliance and data security standards
- Experience with mobile app product development and release cycles
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative development environments
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication in English and Vietnamese
- Understand developer mindset, empathize with their challenges, and support their needs to ensure features are delivered correctly per product requirements
Nice to Have
- Experience with digital-first or neo-bank credit card products
- Knowledge of Vietnam banking regulations (SBV circular on card issuance)
- Experience with BIN sponsorship or card program management
- Background in risk management or credit underwriting
- MBA or relevant advanced degree
