About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to build robust, scalable infrastructure for our robotics data platform. You'll develop systems that handle training data processing, model deployment, real-time telemetry, and operational analytics for industrial robotic systems. This role requires expertise in distributed systems, data engineering, and high-performance computing.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable backend services for robotics data management
Build data ingestion pipelines for multi-modal sensor data (cameras, LiDAR, force sensors)
Develop APIs for training data annotation, curation, and version control
Create model serving infrastructure for perception and planning algorithms
Implement real-time data processing systems for deployed robot fleets
Design database schemas and data models for training datasets and operational telemetry
Build monitoring and logging systems for production robotic deployments
Develop job scheduling and orchestration systems for data processing workflows
Optimize database queries and data access patterns for performance
Implement security, authentication, and access control mechanisms
Create automated testing and deployment pipelines
Integrate with robotic control systems and edge computing devices
Establish data retention policies and archival strategies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
3-5 years of professional backend development experience
Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or C++
Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices
Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
Knowledge of distributed systems concepts and design patterns
Experience with message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, NATS)
Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficiency with Docker and containerization
Experience with SQL and database optimization
Understanding of security best practices and data privacy
Preferred Skills
Experience with time-series databases and high-frequency data streams
Knowledge of data lake architectures (S3, MinIO, HDFS)
Familiarity with machine learning deployment and MLOps
Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
Understanding of robotic middleware (ROS, ROS2) and communication patterns
Background in video processing and computer vision pipelines
Experience with Kubernetes and service mesh technologies
Knowledge of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached)
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
Understanding of edge computing and IoT architectures
