Product Operations Specialist, Media (Content Understanding & Data Labeling)

• Taxonomy & Labeling Strategy: Design and maintain the platform’s master taxonomy tree (including content categories, quality tiers, creator archetypes, and trending themes) for both videos and channels. Strategically divide tasks between automated AI classification (Machine Learning) and manual human annotation based on data complexity.
• Algorithm & Operations Enablement: Partner closely with Recommendation/Search Engineers and Growth Operations teams to translate algorithmic signals and business expansion goals into actionable, structured data labels (e.g., shaping the exact data signals that power the personalized recommendation engine and content discovery).
• Quality & System Supervision: Establish strict Annotation Guidelines and benchmark metrics (Inter-annotator agreement for human teams; Precision and Recall for AI categorization models) to monitor label accuracy. Conduct continuous data audits to eliminate bias, noise, or misalignments in the data pipeline.
• Taxonomy Evolution: Continuously analyze video trends, features, and user behaviors to evolve the labeling system. Proactively introduce new cultural/topical labels (e.g., new internet subcultures, content genres, or formats) and retire obsolete ones to keep the algorithm current.
• Internal Tooling Optimization: Collaborate with Product Managers (PM) and Tech teams to design and upgrade internal data annotation tools. Optimize the backoffice interface to streamline tasks, increase human labeling productivity, and achieve operational targets.

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in product operations, data operations, content taxonomy, business analysis, or a data-centric role within short-video platforms, digital media, or e-commerce.
• Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of how content metadata and data labeling power recommendation engines, search systems, and machine learning models. Direct experience with Data Classification, Information Architecture, or Taxonomy design is highly preferred.
• Analytical Rigor: Proficient in Excel, SQL, and data analysis to monitor system health, detect systemic data labeling errors, and evaluate automated classification performance.
• Cross-functional Alignment: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical algorithmic needs into practical operational guidelines, and vice-versa, for Engineering, Product, and Content Operations teams.
• Mindset: Highly logical, structured thinker with deep cultural awareness and sensitivity to viral content trends; detail-oriented and comfortable managing complex, evolving data structures.

Content Operations builds a highly personalized and engaging ecosystem for users and creators. As a Product Operation Specialist focusing on Content Understanding, you will be the structural architect of our data. You will bridge the gap between human context, recommendation algorithms, and technical execution by designing, scaling, and optimizing a comprehensive video and channel labeling system (Automation + Manual) to drive platform distribution and growth.
