Position: Back-end Developer
Level: Senior
- Key Responsibilities
Development & Maintenance
- Architect, design, and implement complex server-side logic and APIs to support front-end applications, third-party integrations, and internal systems;
- Lead the development and maintenance of highly scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems using advanced back-end technologies;
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability through advanced server-side programming, caching strategies, and load balancing;
- Drive the adoption of best practices in code quality, maintainability, and performance optimization;
- Design and implement microservices-based architectures, ensuring modularity, scalability, and fault isolation across distributed systems.
Database Management
- Design and optimize complex database schemas for relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity, scalability, and high availability;
- Implement advanced database optimizations, including indexing strategies, query optimization, sharding, and replication;
- Oversee database operations such as migrations, backups, and disaster recovery planning;
- Manage and integrate databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Redis in high-traffic environments.
System Integration & API Development
- Architect and develop robust, scalable RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, ensuring high performance, security, and backward compatibility;
- Lead integration efforts with third-party services, SDKs, and APIs (e.g., payment gateways, CRMs, analytics platforms), ensuring seamless interoperability and fault tolerance;
- Establish API governance, including versioning, documentation, and monitoring, to ensure long-term maintainability;
- Implement advanced security measures, such as rate limiting, API key management, and protection against common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10);
- Design and integrate with third-party applications, ensuring secure data exchange, API compatibility, and error handling for external systems.
Security
- Implement and enforce security best practices across all back-end systems, including secure coding, data encryption, and protection against threats like SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF;
- Design and manage secure authentication and authorization workflows using protocols like OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT;
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to ensure system integrity;
Testing & Debugging
- Design and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, stress, and chaos testing, to ensure system reliability;
- Lead debugging efforts for complex, production-level issues, utilizing observability tools like logging, metrics, and tracing;
- Champion test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) practices within the team.
Collaboration
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, DevOps, and product managers, to deliver cohesive solutions;
- Lead architectural discussions and technical decision-making in Agile/Scrum environments, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.
- Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience);
- 5+ years of professional experience in back-end development, with at least 4 years leading complex, production-grade microservices-based systems;
- Demonstrable portfolio showcasing scalable microservices architectures, secure systems, and integrations with third-party applications (e.g., payment gateways, SaaS platforms, or enterprise tools).
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in at least one back-end programming language, Golang preferred (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, Go, PHP);
- Deep expertise with modern frameworks such as Gin, Echo, … with experience optimizing framework performance;
- Strong understanding of database management systems (SQL and NoSQL);
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes;
- Extensive experience with microservices architecture;
- Proficiency in integrating with third-party applications and APIs, with experience in managing OAuth, webhooks, and asynchronous integrations.
- Experience with message queues like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Redis.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (e.g. CloudFormation), and DevOps practices using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI.
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry) for monitoring, logging, and tracing in distributed systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience leading the design and implementation of serverless architectures and Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) platforms;
- Proficiency in designing and securing gRPC-based APIs and protocol buffers for high-performance, low-latency systems
- Knowledge of advanced caching strategies (e.g., Redis, Memcached, Varnish) and content delivery networks (CDNs)

- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on optimizing for performance, security, and scalability in distributed systems;
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with a proven track record of guiding technical teams and fostering collaboration;
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and presenting strategic recommendations.
