About the Role 
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Engineering team, building  and maintaining the platform our customers rely on for KYC and investigation purposes. You will  lead a small team of junior engineers, set the technical direction for the work they take on, and stay  deep in the codebase yourself. 
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will own initiatives from the first conversation with a  stakeholder through to release and operation, and you will be accountable both for new delivery  and for the health of the products already running in production.

What You'll Do 
• Own initiatives end-to-end: clarify and extend requirements with stakeholders across product,  design, operations, and infrastructure, propose what to build, and see it through release and  operation 
• Lead the junior engineers: set direction and goals, break down and estimate work items,  unblock the team, pair on hard problems, and help onboard new joiners 
• Stay hands-on: write, test, and ship production code across our services in .NET Core / C#,  TypeScript, and React, alongside the team 
• Own the existing products: maintain and extend the services already live, and lead defect  resolution and incident response 
• Apply AI agentically: use approved AI tools like Claude Code across the full SDLC, and  contribute back to our internal agentic ecosystem, the workflows and tools the rest of the team  relies on 
• Code reviews: analyse and optimise code for quality and efficiency, and give constructive  feedback 
• Design for scale: work with the Architecture team on efficient, scalable systems for complex  applications, and drive the efforts that resolve performance bottlenecks and reduce technical  debt 
• Own production readiness: testing, observability, security, CI/CD, and the Infrastructure-as Code templates for application-related AWS infrastructure 
• Run the team rituals: sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and the technical  documentation that keeps the codebase understandable 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent  practical experience 
• 5 to 7 years of professional software development experience, including at least 1 to 2 years  leading and delivering with a team of junior engineers 
• Strong hands-on experience with C# / .NET Core and TypeScript / React • Solid working experience with MS SQL Server and relational database design • Experience designing and running event-driven architectures, including queues and  asynchronous processing, and the failure modes that come with them 
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (e.g. Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation)
• A track record of leading major initiatives successfully, from scoping through to release • Production mindset: a history of shipping high-quality work and achieving high reliability,  backed by real habits around testing, observability, security, and CI/CD 
• Product instinct: comfortable shaping scope rather than waiting for a complete spec • Strong grounding in data structures and algorithms 
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows 
• Comfort working within an existing codebase and following and improving established patterns wherever applicable 
• Eagerness to learn, take feedback well, and grow within a structured engineering team • Clear written and verbal communication, and the patience to develop engineers earlier in their  career

Nice to Have 
• Bonus points for an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification • Familiarity with document and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB)
