About Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence (CREI)
CREI is being established as a multidisciplinary research center focused on the science and engineering of intelligent systems that can perceive, reason, learn, interact, and act in the physical world. The Center aims to advance frontier research while translating robotics and embodied intelligence into high-impact applications relevant to Vietnam and the world.

The Opportunity
VinUniversity invites applications for open-rank faculty positions in Robotics to join the newly established Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence (CREI). The successful candidates will work closely with Prof. Xie Lihua, President‘s Chair Professor and Chief Scientific Officer of CREI, to build the Center‘s research agenda, laboratories, talent pipeline, partnerships, and international profile.
This is a founding opportunity for scholars who combine rigorous research with the ambition to create a globally visible robotics hub in Vietnam. Appointees will establish an independent research program while contributing actively to collaborative, mission-driven projects across CREI, CECS, VinUniversity, and the wider innovation ecosystem.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Research
- Develop and lead an internationally competitive research program in robotics, embodied intelligence, or a closely related field.
- Publish influential work in leading peer-reviewed journals and top international conferences, and pursue patents, open-source platforms, prototypes, or other high-value research outputs where appropriate.
- Secure competitive external research funding and contribute to major interdisciplinary and multi-institutional proposals.
Teaching
- Teach the assigned courses including responsibilities for lectures, assignments, labs, projects, assessment, and office hours.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop curricula and laboratory components for courses in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Service
- Setup and develop CREI’s research laboratories, including defining equipment and infrastructure requirements; supporting procurement, installation, and commissioning; and establishing laboratory safety, operating, maintenance, and shared-use protocols in coordination with relevant university units.
- Contribute to university service through committee work, faculty recruitment, accreditation, and program development.
- Support initiatives aligned with VinUni’s strategic goals and carry out duties assigned by the supervisors.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
General Requirements (All Faculty Levels)
- Degree: A PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Control, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related discipline.
- Teaching:Demonstrated teaching ability and commitment to student-centered, active and authentic learning.
- Research:Evidence of scholarly achievement or strong potential through publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals; engagement in international conferences or research collaborations; and commitment to developing an independent, externally funded research program.
- Service/Industry Engagement:Experience in multinational, multicultural, or start-up environments is highly valued

Specific Requirements by Rank
- Assistant Professor
Postdoctoral or equivalent experience is preferable. Demonstrated potential for high-quality, independent research, and effective teaching. International research engagement is an advantage.
- Associate Professor
Extensive teaching experience with recognized excellence; sustained record of publications and leadership in the discipline; success in securing research funding as Principal Investigator for at least 05 years; and active participation in professional societies.
- Professor
Internationally recognized academic and research leadership; substantial, sustained record of high-impact, funded research for 10 years or more; keynote presentations, awards, or honors for research excellence; and distinguished teaching and mentorship experience.
