JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Data Analyst builds the internal analytics capability that ADA runs on. Reporting to the Analytics Director, this role partners with the Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service teams to turn their business questions into Power BI dashboards that are accurate, adopted, and maintained. This is a largely independent role. The Senior Data Analyst owns the delivery backlog across functions, sets priority, commits to timelines, and carries each request from requirement through to deployment and handover.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.   Partner with Internal Functions to Define Analytics Requirements

·       Run requirement sessions with Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service teams to understand how each function makes decisions and what they need to see.

·       Translate open business questions into a documented brief covering metric definitions, data sources, granularity, and refresh frequency, and secure sign-off on scope and success criteria before build starts.

·       Challenge requests that duplicate existing reporting or that the available data cannot support, and propose a workable alternative.

2.   Manage the Delivery Backlog, Priority, and Timelines

·       Maintain a single view of all internal dashboard requests, sized by business impact, effort, and dependency, and set priority against it.

·       Publish a delivery timeline for each request with milestones, dependencies, and an agreed delivery date, and keep it current as work progresses.

·       Give proactive status updates to requesting functions and the Analytics Director, and surface competing demands and trade-offs early with a recommendation attached rather than an open question.

3.   Build and Maintain Internal Power BI Dashboards

·       Design data models and DAX measures that stay accurate, performant, and maintainable as data volume grows.

·       Build dashboards that match how each function works, from daily operational tracking to monthly commercial and financial review.

·       Work independently across the full build cycle, covering data extraction, transformation, modelling, visual design, testing, deployment, and handover.

·       Maintain what is already live, apply enhancements, retire unused reports, and keep documentation current.

4.   Maintain High Data Accuracy and Internal Trust

·       Reconcile dashboard figures against source systems and Finance records before release, and resolve every variance found.

·       Build recurring quality checks that surface data issues before internal users see them.

·       Investigate figures that users challenge, give a clear root cause, and close the gap at source rather than in the report.

·       Work with the Tech and Data Platform teams on upstream fixes and on data the business needs but does not yet have.

5.   Drive Adoption, Automation, and Analytics Standards

·       Onboard internal users with short training sessions and clear usage guides, track dashboard usage, and follow up where adoption is low.

·       Automate recurring manual reporting so internal teams spend their time on decisions rather than on data preparation.

·       Maintain analytics standards, naming conventions, and reusable assets, and share working practice with the wider analytics team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Certification in Power BI, SQL, or a cloud data platform is an advantage.
• Formal training in project management is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• 2-4 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting, with a track record of owning deliverables end to end.
• Proven experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards that business functions use on a recurring basis.
• Experience gathering requirements directly from non-technical stakeholders across more than one business function.
• Experience running a personal delivery backlog with multiple concurrent requests and competing deadlines.
• Experience with e-commerce, retail, or CPG data is an advantage.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

• Advanced Power BI, covering data modelling, DAX, row-level security, and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL for extraction, transformation, and validation of large datasets.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes, sufficient to work with Tech teams on upstream fixes.
• Ability to design and run reconciliation and data quality checks, and to document findings clearly.
• Strong Excel for ad hoc analysis and validation.
• Familiarity with commercial, operational, and finance metrics such as revenue, margin, cost to serve, service level, and productivity.

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

• Strong project management discipline: scopes the work, sets the timeline, tracks progress, and communicates status without being chased.
• Strong internal stakeholder management across Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service, including the ability to decline a request with a reason and an alternative.
• Sets priority with judgment, balancing business impact, effort, and urgency, and makes the trade-off visible to those affected.
• Works independently with minimal supervision, comfortable owning a problem from open question to delivered dashboard.
• Clear written and verbal communication, translating technical detail into language business teams act on.
• Proactive in raising risks, blockers, and data gaps early rather than at the deadline.
• High attention to detail and a personal standard for data accuracy.
