This is a Reliability Engineering role. While Reliability testing is one component of the work, this role is fundamentally about driving product reliability from design through mass production. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering design background and applies that expertise to ensure robust, field-ready products.
We are looking for an engineer who:
• Thinks like a designer — understands how design decisions impact long-term reliability
• Acts like a project leader — drives issues to resolution across teams and geographies
• Bridges design and manufacturing — ensures reliability intent is preserved from concept through mass production
If you have a design engineering background and are passionate about building reliable products at scale, this role is for you.
Key job responsibilities
The Reliability Engineer will lead reliability engineering and operations activities throughout the device execution phase. This role works closely with the core team and contract manufacturers (CM/ODM) to manage system NPI builds and reliability qualification in China, as well as conducting and driving failure analysis for issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Collaboration (Early Phase): Partner with the design team during early program phases to contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, and design improvements — leveraging reliability insights to influence product architecture and robustness.
2. NPI Build Management: Manage system engineering builds in Asia, serving as the reliability representative to ensure builds meet qualification standards.
3. Reliability Validation Oversight: Manage contract manufacturers to ensure correct and on-time reliability test execution, while maintaining test integrity and data quality.
4. Progress Reporting & Issue Tracking: Report reliability execution progress and issues; track issues from creation through to closure with clear ownership and timelines.
5. Failure Analysis & Corrective Action: Drive and cooperate with cross-functional teams (EE, ME, firmware, quality) on root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues discovered during testing.
6. NPI-to-MP Transfer: Manage the transition from NPI to mass production, ensuring consistent reliability qualification testing and stable reliability levels across different manufacturing sites.
7. Sustaining Support: Support factory escalations, post-ramp qualification activities, and component-level reliability assessments.
Basic qualifications
- • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related fields.
- • 3+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical design engineering, reliability engineering, or reliability project management.
- • Design background is a significant plus — candidates with hands-on product design experience who want to apply that knowledge to reliability will be highly valued.
- • Solid understanding of product reliability testing methodologies and lifetime evaluation.
- • Strong technical problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in failure analysis techniques.
- • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; team leadership experience preferred
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in product development with a proven track record of delivering high-volume consumer electronic devices to market.
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques to isolate root causes for EE or ME issues (e.g., cross-section, CSAM, X-ray, electrical characterization).
- Proficiency in reliability and statistical methods — able to perform data analysis, risk assessment, and lifetime forecasting (e.g., Weibull analysis, accelerated life testing models).
- Experience working with high-volume manufacturing sites in Asia, ideally with multiple OEM/ODM partners.
- Experience cross-functionally managing diverse groups of engineering, operations, and product management professionals — proficient at creating and tracking complex development schedules and managing issue resolution.
- Background in consumer electronics (audio, wireless devices, IoT, or connected devices preferred).
- Solid understanding of product development phases (EVT/DVT/PVT/MP).
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
