What you will do
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer / AI Researcher to join our team in Da Nang, with a strong foundation in software engineering and applied AI research to advance our capabilities in document intelligence, LLMs, and multimodal AI. In this role, you will conduct hands-on experiments, develop and evaluate AI models, and turn research findings into reliable, production-ready solutions. You will work closely with the team to explore emerging technologies, build robust AI pipelines, and deliver practical innovations that support our AI roadmap.
Conduct applied research in document intelligence, including document parsing, OCR, layout understanding, and structured information extraction.
Design benchmarks and evaluation frameworks: datasets, metrics, and LLM-as-judge methods, to measure model and pipeline quality objectively.
Reproduce state-of-the-art methods, benchmark them against open-source and commercial solutions, and improve them through controlled experiments and ablations.
Contribute to the AI-ready data platform: data pipelines, retrieval and context layers, RAG, agentic retrieval, and knowledge graph or ontology-based approaches.
Develop, fine-tune, and evaluate LLMs and multimodal models for extraction and reasoning tasks.
Build reliable, tested, and maintainable code, and transform research prototypes into services and APIs that delivery teams can adopt.
Document experiments and findings clearly, and present results and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Follow developments in AI research and assess their applicability to the lab's roadmap.
Support colleagues through code and experiment reviews, and promote sound research practice across the team.
Who we are looking for
Experience in AI research, AI/ML engineering, or software engineering, with strength in one area and working depth in the other.
Strong Python programming skills and good software engineering practice (testing, version control, code review).
Solid foundation in machine learning: model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and error analysis.
Hands-on experience with LLMs and at least one of: document AI (OCR, layout analysis, information extraction), RAG, AI agents, or multimodal models.
Proficiency with PyTorch (or an equivalent framework) and the Hugging Face ecosystem.
Ability to design controlled experiments, analyse results rigorously, and report outcomes objectively, including negative results.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
Research publications, open-source contributions, or benchmark and leaderboard experience.
Experience with vision-language models, model fine-tuning, or model serving.
Experience in data engineering: pipelines, data quality, dataset curation, and annotation workflows.
Knowledge of knowledge graphs, ontologies, or enterprise search.
Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred) and MLOps practices such as experiment tracking and monitoring.
Experience with an AI-native software development lifecycle: using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Codex, and agentic workflows across design, coding, testing, and review.
Backend development experience (APIs, microservices; Node.js, Go) or experience mentoring and leading technical initiatives.
