KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- University Capability Development
- Identify critical institutional, academic, research, and innovation capabilities required to deliver VinUni’s strategic priorities and long-term ambitions.
- Develop and lead University-wide capability-building programs, frameworks, and initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness and institutional maturity.
- Work with academic and administrative leaders to assess capability gaps, establish priorities, and develop targeted interventions.
- Support the development of scalable models, processes, and platforms that enable the University to build and sustain world-class capabilities.
- Establish mechanisms to measure capability development, organizational readiness, and the impact of major capability-building initiatives.
- Academic Talent and Faculty Capability
- Support strategic faculty recruitment through global talent identification, assessment, academic benchmarking, and targeted engagement.
- Develop initiatives to strengthen faculty onboarding, mentoring, academic development, leadership development, and career progression.
- Build external academic networks and talent pipelines that enhance VinUni’s ability to attract and develop high-caliber faculty and academic leaders.
- Facilitate opportunities for faculty collaboration, visiting appointments, joint programs, and international academic engagement.
- Strategic Partnerships and Ecosystem Development
- Design and implement a University-wide framework for strategic partnerships across research, education, innovation, talent, and societal impact.
- Identify priority sectors, institutions, and strategic partners aligned with VinUni’s capabilities, ambitions, and institutional priorities.
- Develop long-term relationships with leading corporations, universities, research organizations, industry groups, funding agencies, government stakeholders, and other strategic partners.
- Build partnership models that provide access to capabilities, expertise, talent, technology, funding, infrastructure, and global networks.
- Ensure partnerships generate tangible and sustainable value for both VinUni and its strategic partners.
- Institutional Development and Research Governance
- Advise senior leadership on institutional capability, research competitiveness, partnership strategy, and ecosystem development.
- Support University leadership in strengthening research governance, policies, performance frameworks, and research management practices.
- Contribute to University-level strategy, priority setting, organizational development, and major transformation initiatives.
- Work with the Transformation Management Office, Research Management Office, and relevant University units to translate strategic priorities into executable capability-building initiatives.
- Support the establishment of appropriate governance, performance measures, and operating models for major University-wide initiatives.
- Strategic Initiatives and Transformation
- Lead or support selected University-level initiatives where capability development, external engagement, or ecosystem building is critical to successful execution.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear capability roadmaps, partnership strategies, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among academic schools, research centers, and administrative units.
- Identify opportunities to leverage external expertise, partnerships, and global best practices to accelerate institutional transformation.
- Contribute to building a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, collaboration, and institutional excellence.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- PhD from a globally recognized university, with strong academic credibility and interdisciplinary perspective.
- Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, institutional development, capability building, research, innovation, or strategic partnerships.
- Strong international academic and professional networks.
- Experience in faculty recruitment, mentoring, academic development, research governance, organizational development, or related areas.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to design scalable partnership models and long-term institutional initiatives.
- Strong international academic and professional networks across academia, industry, government, research organizations, and/or funding agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify capability gaps, design scalable development models, and translate strategy into institution-wide initiatives.
- Excellent communication, influencing, relationship-building, and cross-functional leadership capabilities.
- Passion for advancing science, innovation, and sustainable development in Vietnam and globally.
