THE OPPORTUNITY

VinUniversity is seeking a learning designer who can move fluently between building polished digital learning experiences and supporting faculty members to create innovative learning activities in their course. You will architect the Center for Education Quality Management’s (CEQM) flagship professional development programs (including blended professional development programs and an innovative AI upskilling curriculum) while working directly with academics on the practical questions of course, activity, and assessment design. AI-empowered learning is our latest focus, but VinUniversity has integrated active learning in our classes since the beginning.

You will join a small, ambitious center at a university that has made a serious institutional commitment to AI in teaching and learning and shape the implementation of that commitment.

REPORTING LINE: Reports to the Director, Center for Education Quality Management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Program Design and Production

• Design and build professional development programs, incorporating evaluation findings and lessons learned into coherent and progressively sequenced curriculum.
• Produce learning content in accessible and engaging formats, including multimedia assets, interactive e-learning elements, and light in-house video creation and editing.
• Apply instructional design principles and evidence-based practice to maximize completion rates and the transfer of learning into practice.
• Design a micro-credential program for professional development programs, structured so that it can be adopted or adapted by other colleges and departments.
• Ensure all learning content meets accessibility standards and is consistent with CEQM’s design conventions and VinUniversity’s brand guidelines.
• Support the delivery of faculty-facing sessions on pedagogy and AI integration.

2.      Learning Experience Design Support

• Provide one-to-one and small-group instructional design consultation to faculty and teaching assistants on course design, learning design, assessment, and AI-empowered learning.
• Support faculty and teaching assistants in the practical integration of AI into course design, learning activities, and assessment, including approaches to assessment redesign and academic integrity.
• Assist faculty and teaching assistants with the development of course materials, learning activities, and assessment artifacts.
• Ensure design advice reflects outcomes-based and competency-based education principles and demonstrable alignment between outcomes, activities, and assessment.
• Maintain a visible CEQM presence across the four colleges through scheduled consultation availability, drop-in support, and proactive outreach.

3.      Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate the effectiveness of professional development programs using participation, completion, satisfaction, and impact data. Contribute to CEQM reporting.
• Iterate program content and design in response to evaluation findings and participant feedback.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, combined with a strong portfolio and equivalent professional experience. Master’s degree is preferrable.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in instructional design, learning design, or academic development, preferably in a higher education setting.
• Practical proficiency with e-learning authoring and multimedia tools (e.g. Articulate 360 / Rise, H5P, etc.), and the ability to produce and edit short-form video.
• Ability to ethically and responsibly use generative AI including understanding its pedagogical applications, limitations, and ethical considerations in education.
• Ability to consult effectively with academic staff, translating pedagogical principles into practical, discipline-appropriate design decisions.
• Ability to evaluate program effectiveness using a data-driven approach.
• A service-oriented mindset: responsive, approachable, and consistently focused on making it easier for faculty and teaching assistants to do their work well.
• Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
