Cake - Digital Bank is seeking a Product Manager to build and scale merchant payment and financial solutions for MSME merchants across digital ecosystems.
You will own the product strategy and execution across acquiring, payment gateway, lending, savings, credit card, and cross-border payment solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products that drive merchant growth and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop financial and payment solutions for digital merchants
- Research and analyze the financial behaviors, payment needs, and business challenges of MSME merchants operating on digital platforms such as e-commerce, ride-hailing, social commerce, live selling, and other digital ecosystems.
- Design, develop, and deliver a comprehensive suite of merchant solutions, including:
- Merchant Payment Solutions: acquiring, payment gateway, QR payment acceptance, payment collection and settlement services.
- Financial Solutions: savings, lending, and credit card products tailored to merchants’ business needs and cash flow patterns.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Tech Product Managers, Risk, Legal, Operations, Partnerships, and other stakeholders to build, launch, and scale merchant-focused products and solutions.
- Ensure all products and services are designed to address merchant pain points, improve customer experience, and drive business growth.
- Monitor product performance, gather customer feedback, and drive continuous product enhancements based on data insights, market trends, and evolving merchant needs.
2. Build cross-border payment solutions
- Research market opportunities and understand the international payment needs of merchants operating on digital platforms.
- Define product strategy and roadmap for cross-border payment solutions.
- Design, develop, and launch cross-border payment products in collaboration with international payment providers, card schemes, payment networks, acquirers, and strategic partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, risk, and operational requirements related to international transactions.
- Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance product competitiveness.
3. Product and project ownership
- Build business cases, product strategies, and roadmaps for merchant payment, financial services, and cross-border initiatives.
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery through development, launch, optimization, and scaling.
- Define product requirements, success metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive execution across multiple stakeholders while managing dependencies, priorities, and timelines.
- Ensure alignment between product initiatives and broader business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Product Manager in digital banking, fintech, payment companies or merchant-focused ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of MSME merchant needs, payment ecosystems, cash flow patterns, and digital commerce platforms such as e-commerce, ride-hailing, social commerce, and online marketplaces.
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains:
- Merchant acquiring
- Payment gateway and payment acceptance solutions
- Cross-border payments
- Merchant financial products, including savings, lending, and credit cards
- Experience working with payment networks, acquirers, PSPs, fintech companies, digital banks, or merchant service providers is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
